Getting started

Introduction

The TeraTrack API gives read access to the same data you see on the platform. Every request is an HTTPS GET to your platform address followed by /api, and answers in JSON unless a file format is requested.

Your address. Replace {your-domain} in every example with the address you use to sign in to TeraTrack (your white-label domain, if you have one).

This reference lists the read (GET) endpoints. Anything that changes data on your account is managed from the platform itself.

Authentication

Every endpoint, except /api/server, needs a signed-in user. Use one of these:

1. API token (recommended)

Create a token for your integration from your account on the platform and send it in the Authorization header. You can revoke a token at any time without changing your password.

Header
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN
2. Basic authentication

Your platform e-mail and password, Base64-encoded as email:password. Handy for quick tests; prefer a token for anything that runs unattended.

Header
Authorization: Basic BASE64(email:password)
3. Session cookie

GET /api/session?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN opens a session; the server returns a session cookie to send with the next requests.

Keep credentials secret. Never put tokens or passwords in web pages, mobile apps or public repositories, always call the API over HTTPS, and give each integration its own token so it can be revoked on its own.

Conventions & units

Dates are ISO 8601 in UTC, for example 2026-10-01T00:00:00Z. Report periods use from and to.

Several values: repeat the parameter, for example ?deviceId=12&deviceId=15.

Units are the raw platform units, so you can convert them as you need:

ValueUnitTo convert
Speed (speed, averageSpeed, maxSpeed)knots× 1.852 = km/h, × 1.151 = mph
Distance, odometermetres÷ 1000 = km
Durations, engine hoursmilliseconds÷ 3,600,000 = hours
Fuellitres
Coordinatesdecimal degrees (WGS 84)

Exceptions are noted on the endpoint, for example the overspeed report gives its speeds in km/h.

Errors

StatusMeaning
200Success.
400Missing or invalid parameter (for example a period without to, or too long).
401Not signed in: missing, wrong or revoked credentials.
403Signed in, but this user may not access the device or object.
